ALGIERS- The price of the National Advisory Commission for the Promotion and the Protection of Human Rights (CNCPPDH) was awarded Sunday, in Algiers, to the President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, in recognition of his fight and activism for the liberation of occupied Western Sahara and the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination for more than 40 years.

The award of the CNCPPDH, in its second edition was given to President Abdelaziz Mohamed by the Speaker of the Council of the Nation, Abdelkader Bensalah, on the occasion of the commemoration, in Algiers, of the Human Rights Day, which marks the adoption of the Universal  Declaration of Human Rights (10 December 1948).

The Sahrawi minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, the Sahrawi ambassador to Algiers, Ibrahim Ghali and human rights activists took part in this awarding ceremony.

On the Algerian side, members of both chambers of Parliament and personalities representing civil society were present in this ceremony.

In its first edition, the award of CNCPPDH was given to President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
